What Could Be the Higher Purpose of Humanity?
My friends and I talked for hours and these are the surreal outcomes, partially unrelated to the initial question.
Five open-minded people who barely knew each other, candlelight, and a few glasses of dry white wine — everything was perfect for co-creating the first philosophy circle.
I brought my friends together on purpose — I anticipated they’d bring the wildest ideas to the circle, disagree with each other respectfully, and have a great time.
“So what do you think, what is the purpose of life if we think about humanity as a whole?” — asked Ned as we settled in my cozy living room.
Our conversation quickly surpassed simple answers.
We moved way beyond the ideas that intuitively seemed to be the most plausible — we didn’t want to settle with the assumption that we don’t have a purpose or that the higher purpose of humanity is reproduction. We didn’t dive deep into the concept that our collective purpose is to spread consciousness beyond Earth — into the universe. We also didn’t examine the purpose I hope to be true: to non-violently improve and thrive on Earth as a collective.
